Want to tag one of your colleagues on your LinkedIn post?

Or maybe your organization?

Wondering how to do that?

Look no further.

Throughout this blog post, I’ll show you:

I’m so excited to share this information with you. So, without wasting any time, let’s dive into it straight away.

How to Tag Someone on a LinkedIn Post

To tag someone on LinkedIn, type in ‘@’ using your keyboard and start writing down the person’s name that you’d like to tag. Not only can you tag people in your network or the ones that you follow but you can also literally tag anybody on LinkedIn.

That’s the beauty of the platform.

Allow me to show you how to tag on LinkedIn.

Let’s say I want to tag one of my close friends ‘Ashish’ on LinkedIn. It’s related to Technometer – the fact that we crossed 140+ daily users traffic on our website.

Yes – it’s an achievement for us.

So, what I’ll do is log in to LinkedIn if I haven’t already and tap on the “Start a Post” tab to start typing.

Let’s type in something like:

“Last week we hit the 140+ daily traffic mark. It’s been amazing to work side-by-side with my childhood friend {Ashish}.”

Now, if I want to tag Ashish on this post, I’ll have to use ‘@’ just after “childhood friend” – as you can see in the screenshot.

As I click on the person’s name that I’d like to tag (in this case – it’s Ashish), LinkedIn will add the person to your post, and as I publish it, his/her name will appear in blue.

Now, if you want to tag a company on LinkedIn, let’s learn how to do that.

How to Tag a Company on a LinkedIn Post

NOTE – I’m treating Technometer as both my company and page. The process of tagging a company and page are the same – so don’t mind if I use the words interchangeably.

To tag a company on a LinkedIn post, you need to type in ‘@’ using your keyboard and continue typing the company’s name that you would like to tag. Now, from here, you’ll see a list of the companies – as you keep typing. You need to select the company you’d like to tag.

You don’t necessarily need to follow a company to tag them. You can just tag them irrespective of whether you’re following them or not.

Allow me to show you how to tag a company on LinkedIn.

Let’s say I want to tag my company “Technometer” on one of my LinkedIn posts. So, what I need to do is log in to LinkedIn, click on the “Start a Post” tab and start typing my post.

How to Tag a Company on a LinkedIn Post

Let’s say I want to talk about our recent achievement – we hit the 140+ mark – so I want to write a post – something like:

Last week, our blog “Technometer” 140+ daily traffic mark. So excited to be on the growth train.

Now, if I want to tag my company “Technometer” on my LinkedIn post, I will type “@” after “my company” and start typing in my company’s name. Please refer to the screenshot for clarification.

Choose your company’s name.

As I click on the company’s name, LinkedIn will detect it and remove the “@” automatically and add the company to the post. And when it’s finally published, the company’s name will appear in blue – and upon clicking on it, you’ll be able to head over to their LinkedIn page/profile.

Now if you have already published a post yet forgot to tag a person or a company, let’s learn how you can tag them now.

How to Tag Someone or Your Company After You’ve Published a LinkedIn Post

If you have already published a LinkedIn post yet forgot to tag someone or a company, you’ll have to edit the post and tag them to the post.

Let’s say here’s my post:

Before tagging on LinkedIn

As you can see, I forgot to tag both my company “Technometer” and my friend “Ashish.” So, what I’ll do is click on the “Edit Post” by tapping on the three-dotted horizontal line on the top right of my post and selecting “Edit Post.”

If you are unable to find the post, you can do it by heading over to your profile and finding it in your “Activity -> Posts” section.

So, I’ll edit the post and tag both my friend and company.

After tagging on LinkedIn

As you edit the post, type in ‘@’ and start typing the name of the person or company that you’d like to tag. As the list appears, click on the person or company’s name. Once you’re done making the changes, click on “Save” to make the final changes.

And that’s how you can tag someone or a company after you’ve published the LinkedIn post.
