Want to watch your private YouTube videos?
As a YouTube creator, you may not want to share a few videos with everyone visiting your channel. Private videos are unlisted.
Maybe, you don’t want to share some alone moments with your family. Or maybe you don’t really want to share a few private videos from your wedding celebration.
And it’s okay – if you are uploading on YouTube, you’ll always have the option to set your videos as Private.
Not everyone can see your private videos.
If you are not signed in, then you’ll not be able to watch the video.
If you’re accessing it from another channel that you haven’t shared the private video with, you’ll not be able to see it.
Lastly, these videos don’t appear on a YouTube channel’s homepage.
So, let’s say, on our Technometer YouTube channel, if we set a video as private, then, our subscribers won’t be able to see this video listed on our homepage. They’ll need a link.
But if you yourself want to watch a private video and are struggling with it, allow me to help you out.
To help you understand how to view your private videos on YouTube, we’ve put together this blog post, where we’ll be covering:
- How to View Private Videos on YouTube
- How to View Private Videos on YouTube from Other Channels
- How to View Private Videos without Signing In
Let’s have a look.
How to View Private Videos on YouTube
Private videos are only accessible from the channel you uploaded them or by the people who you shared them with. So, if I have set a video as private and share it with Ashish (Co-Founder of Technometer), then he’ll be able to view my private videos on YouTube.
If you have uploaded a video on YouTube and set it as private, then you yourself won’t see it on your channel homepage or “Videos” section.
So, how can you access your private videos?
Simple! Just head over to YouTube Studios. You can do this by clicking on the channel icon in the top-right corner and selecting “YouTube Studio.”

Under YouTube Studio, click on “Content” in the top-left navigation bar.
There you’ll see all your videos listed – whether they are private, public, or unlisted. To view the video you’ve set as private, click on the YouTube icon just beneath the video name – as depicted in the screenshot.
Or, if you already have the link – you don’t really need to go to YouTube Studios. Just paste the link into your browser, and your private video will be accessible. But make sure that you’re logged in to your channel. Otherwise, YouTube will ask you to sign in or convey the message “Video Unavailable. This video is private.”
And that’s how you can view private videos on YouTube.
That being said, if you want to view private videos on YouTube from other channels, you can share your videos with your friends and loved ones. Let’s learn how.
How to View Private Videos on YouTube from Other Channels
If you use multiple channels and want to share your private videos with them or maybe want to share your private videos with your friends or loved ones, you can go ahead and do it straight away.

To share a private video on YouTube, head over to “YouTube Studio,” click on “Content” in the top-left corner, and tap on the visibility of the video you’d like to share – you’ll see a drop-down menu with the following options:
- Private
- Unlisted
- Public
Under “Private,” you’ll see the “Share Privately” option.

You can share this video with your friends or loved ones or whomever you want to share it with by clicking on “Share Privately” and adding their email(s) in the “Invitees” section.
You can tick-mark “Notify via email” to notify them via email. Once you add the email, select “Done” to share your private video.
How to View Private Videos without Signing In
If you are not signed in to your YouTube account and try to access a Private video, you’ll see something like this:

Unfortunately, there’s no hack to watch a private video without signing in. You need to log in to your account and make sure that either you’ve logged in to the same channel you’ve uploaded the video from or to the channel the private video is shared with.
Otherwise, there’s no turnaround.
Conclusion
And that’s how you can view your private videos on YouTube. I hope I was able to help you out. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to comment – I’ll hit you up as soon as I can.
