Want to know what is the most disliked video on YouTube?

First – I’m proud to say that – about 2.56 billion people watch video content on YouTube every single month.

We’ve come a long way ahead.

From 20 million in 2006 to a staggering 2.56 billion MAU in 2022, we are a part of a revolution.

About 38 million YouTube channels exist – with some being extremely popular whereas some being home to no visitors at all.

With people consuming 1 billion hours of content every single day, YouTube allows its users to share their opinions in the form of likes, dislikes, and comments.

And while you’re looking for the most disliked video on YouTube, unfortunately, YouTube removed the ability to see the dislikes from their API.

But like always, I have a workaround to see how many dislikes a YouTube video has.

So, if you are not able to watch the number of dislikes on your end for a specific YouTube video, allow me to help you out.

Throughout this blog post, I’ll show you:

How to Bring Back the Dislike Count on YouTube?

On November 10, 2021, YouTube shared an update related to the dislikes on YouTube – where they said:

YouTube dislike count removal announcement

While the dislike button has not been deactivated, users are not able to see the number of dislikes on a YouTube video. Dislikes are set to private.

The reason behind YouTube making this big move is that when a video is getting more and more dislikes, the people watching the video join in and drive up the count – targeting YouTube creators.

Even though YouTube removed the Dislike count, I’ve some good news for you. You can reactivate it by installing a Chrome Plugin named “Return YouTube Dislike.”

That’s right.

Allow me to show you how.

Step I: Hop onto a YouTube video – just any video. I hopped onto “Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame – Official Trailer” by Marvel Entertainment. As you can see, I can’t see the number of dislikes. Even though there’s an option to dislike the YouTube video, I can’t see how many dislikes it has.

Step II: To get back the dislikes, click on the three vertical dots next to your profile picture in Chrome.

Step III: Of the different options there are, select “Settings.”

Visit Chrome Settings

Step IV: In the left Navigation bar, just below “Advanced,” click on “Extensions.”

Visit Chrome Extensions

Step V: Now, you’ll be redirected to the Google Chrome Extensions page. There you can see all your installed extensions. But we need to hop onto Google Chrome Store to install a new extension. So, in the left-hand side, you’ll see three vertical lines. Click on it.

Tap on Three Vertical Lines next to Extensions

Step VI: A window will open from left to right like this:

Open Chrome Web Store

At the bottom, you can see “Open Chrome Web Store,” click on it.

Open Chrome Web Store

If you weren’t able to find the store, click HERE.

Step VII: In the Chrome Web Store, search “Return YouTube Dislikes.” Hit Enter.

Search "Return YouTube Dislikes" on Chrome Store

Step VIII: Here are the results:

Step IX: Now, you’ll be taken to the Return YouTube Dislikes Chrome Plugin store page. Click on “Add to Chrome.”

Add extension to Chrome

Step X: Select “Add extension.”

Confirm Add Extension

And as it’s installed, you’ll get this:

Step XI: Head over to the YouTube video and hit refresh. As you do, you’ll see the dislikes count again.

How to Bring Back Dislikes on YouTube?

Welcome back Dislikes!

Now, we can see what the most disliked video on YouTube is.

What’s the Most Disliked YouTube Video?

Last I checked, the most disliked YouTube video was “YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind | #YouTubeRewind” by YouTube. This video has been a victim of 20.2 million dislikes.

What is the Most Disliked YouTube Video?

The reason why it has been the most disliked YouTube video ever is due to the video’s focus on corporate – as it just highlighted celebrities and brands instead of the YouTube community. This video was subject to over 10 million dislikes in a time period of just 10 days.

As a result, in 2019, YouTube had no other option but to apologize to the community.

You can install the Chrome extension and get dislikes back on YouTube. I did it because I wanted you to show that YouTube Rewind 2018 is still the most disliked YouTube video to date.

I hope I was able to answer your query.
