Want to turn on or off comments on one or all of your YouTube videos?

While allowing the YouTube community to comment on your videos is a great way to get honest and genuine feedback, sometimes these feedbacks are not so genuine.

I’ve personally witnessed people ganging up on YouTube creators – just because they made a silly mistake.

Sometimes, it’s not fair.

And if you are uploading videos on your YouTube channel, you should be the one with complete control over anything and everything.

So, if you want to turn on or turn off comments on your YouTube video(s), allow me to help you out.

Throughout this blog post, I’ll show you:

How to Turn On or Turn Off Comments on All YouTube Videos?

While you can turn on or turn off comments on specific videos on your YouTube channel, if you are just looking forward to turning on or turning off comments throughout your channel, you can do this by following the exact steps as I’ve mentioned:

Answer the Question “Do you want to set your channel as made for kids?”

The first step is to hop onto YouTube and log in to your channel, if you haven’t already.

Now, when you are logged in to your YouTube channel, from the homepage of the website you’ll see your profile picture in the top-right corner. Click on it and you’ll see a drop-down menu.

Of the numerous options you see, select “YouTube Studio.” You’ll see it below “Purchases and memberships” and above “Switch account.”

Click on “YouTube Studios” and you’ll be redirected to YouTube Studios.

Upon being redirected to YouTube studios, to turn on or turn off your channel comments, you need to head over to the studio settings.

In the left-hand navigation bar, you’ll see “Settings.” Click on it and you’ll see the Settings pop-up launching right in front of you.

For the Settings Pop-up you get, now you need to click on “Channel” on the left. You can see it below “General” and above “Upload Defaults.”

Answer the Question "Do you want to set your channel as made for kids?"

Under “Channel,” you’ll see three options:

  • Basic info
  • Advanced settings
  • Feature eligibility

Select “Advanced settings.”

Now, under “Advanced settings,” you’ll see the question:

“Do you want to set your channel as made for kids?”

Following are the three answers you may choose from:

  • Yes, set this channel as made for kids. I always upload content that’s made for kids.
  • No, set this channel as not made for kids. I never upload content that’s made for kids.
  • I want to review this setting for every video.

Now, if you want to turn off YouTube comments on all your videos, select the first option.

If you want to turn on YouTube comments on all videos you upload, select the second option. If you want to set different settings for different YouTube videos, choose the third option.

Once done, click on “Save.”

If You Choose to Accept Comments, Choose Comment Type from “Upload Defaults -> Advanced Settings”

If you set the answer to the above question as Yes, set this channel as made for kids. I always upload content that’s made for kids, then you won’t see this option.

But if you chose one of the other two options, go ahead.

Under YouTube Studio Settings, select “Upload Defaults” and click on “Advanced Settings.”
