Gone are the days when Facebook was a simple and easy-to-use platform with limited features. If you compare Facebook now with the one we had back in 2012 or 2013, you’ll find yourself stunned. The Facebook dev team has worked really hard to introduce several features, including Facebook Marketplace, Facebook Dating, Facebook Stories, and more.

And trust me on this one – even though the platform has numerous features, these features are what make the platform engaging and crisp. That’s the beauty of it.

If you are a fan of Facebook Stories just like me and love uploading stories, you may find yourself wondering – how can I view my old stories on Facebook?

You see – on Instagram, it’s possible to view your old stories in the Story Archive section. But if you are wondering whether that’s possible on Facebook or not, let me assure you that it is.

You can easily access your old stories on Facebook – but in order to do that, you need to have the Story Archive feature turned on.

When you turn it on, no matter how many stories you upload, they’ll be available in the Story Archive section even after they disappear after 24 hours.

To help you understand how to view your old stories on Facebook, I’ve put together this blog post, where we’ll be discussing how you can view your old stories on Facebook, whether you’re using it on Desktop or on your smartphone.

How to View Old Stories on Facebook

To view your old stories on Facebook, you need to turn on the Story Archive feature setting from your profile. And if you have it turned on already, you can view your old Story archive by heading over to your profile, clicking on the three horizontal dotted lines, selecting “Archive” and lastly clicking on the “Story Archive” option.

To help you better understand the process, I’ve divided this blog post into the following sections:

Let’s enter the realm of Facebook Stories straight away.

How to View Old Stories on Facebook on Desktop

To view your old stories on Facebook while on Desktop, follow these exact steps mentioned:

Turn On Story Archive

If you’re looking forward to accessing your old stories on Facebook while on Desktop, the first step is to head over to www.facebook.com and log in to your account, if not already logged in.

Next, head over to your profile. You can either click on your name in the left-hand navigation bar or from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner. Now, to turn on Story Archive, click on the three-horizontal-dotted-line option, as you can see in the screenshots.

As you click on it, you’ll see a drop-down menu with the following options:

  • View As
  • Search Profile
  • Account Status
  • Archive
  • Story Archive
  • Activity Log
  • Profile and tagging settings
  • Unlock profile

Click on “Story Archive” to head over to your Facebook Story Archive. Now, if your Story Archive is turned off, then we’d advise you to turn it on from right here.

Access Your Stories

Once you turn on your Story Archive, you’ll be able to access your old stories from the “Story Archive” section. As simple as that!

How to View Old Stories on Facebook on Smartphone

To view your old stories on Facebook while using your Facebook mobile application, follow the exact steps I’ve listed down:

Click on “Archive” to head over to the Facebook archive section. From here, click on “Story Archive” at the top. Now, if your Story Archive is off, you can turn it on from the bottom.

Access Your Stories

Once you turn on your Story Archive, you’ll be able to access your old stories from the “Story Archive” section. As simple as that!

How to View Your Facebook Friends’ Old Stories

You can’t access your friends’ old stories on Facebook unless they have added them to their Highlights. Their old stories are only visible to them and not to their friends on Facebook. So, if you want to access their old stories, you can reach out to them and ask them to upload them to their highlights.

Or you can just steal their phone – JUST KIDDING – DON’T DO IT.

Conclusion

When your Facebook Story Archive is turned on, your Facebook Stories will automatically be added to the archive section after 24 hours. And only you’ll be able to see your Archived stories unless you add them as highlights to your profile.

Now, if you didn’t have the Story archive option turned on up until now, you may have lost access to your old stories forever. But if you want to access your old stories (from now on) in the future, make sure that your Story Archive is turned on.
